Memoirs of a Geisha Book Report help?
I just read the book Memoirs of a Geisha and Im now writing a book report on it. I have pretty much the whole report planned out, I just need help thinking of the first sentance/quote. The paper is based around my thesis, which is this:
Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden is a coming of age novel about the difficulties in the life of a Geisha, which ultimatley transforms her from childhood to adulthood.
Like I said, I just have no idea how to start out the report with a sentance or quote from the book that draws you in and has somewhat to do with my thesis statement.
Thanks for your help!
haha I am working on a book report on Memoirs of a Geisha right now too
these are my two favorite quotes that I thought summed up the book pretty nicely.
“But now I know that our world is no more permanent than a wave rising on the ocean. Whatever our struggles and triumphs, however we may suffer them, all too soon they bleed into a wash, just like watery ink on paper” (428).
“We lead our lives like water flowing down a hill, going more or less in on direction until we splash into something that forces us to find a new course.” (105)
You don’t by chance know where in the book I can find this quote do you?
We don’t become geisha because we want our lives to be happy; we become geisha because we have no choice. (Mameha)
